Tips for long distant relaionships

21 best tips of keeping long distance relationships   💕💕💕

Many people believe that long distance relationships are never going to work out. Your family may discourage it, and some of your best friends may advise you not to take it too seriously, in case you get your heart broken.
Nobody says it is going to be easy — the extra distance makes many things unachievable. Things could get complicated, and you could get sad and lonely at times. However, the extra distance also makes the simplest things the sweetest, being able to hold the other person’s hand, eating together at the same table, feeling each other’s touch, taking a walk together, smelling each other’s hair… these small wishes could suddenly mean so much more in a long distance relationship.
Long distance relationships may be tough but they have their own surprises too. To keep your love alive and strong, here are 18 tips to make your long distance relationship work:

1. Avoid excessive communication.

It is unwise to be overly “sticky” and possessive. You two don’t really have to communicate 12 hours a day to keep the relationship going. Many couples think that they need to compensate for the distance by doing more. This is not true. And it might only make things worse. Soon you would get tired of “loving.” Remember: Less is more. It is not about spamming — you are only going to exhaust yourselves. It’s really about teasing at the right moments and tugging at the right spots.

2. See it as an opportunity.

“If you want to live together, you first need to learn how to live apart.” – Anonymous
View it as a learning journey for the both of you. See it as a test of your love for each other. As the Chinese saying goes, “Real gold is not afraid of the test of fire.” Instead of thinking that this long distance relationship is pulling you two apart, you should believe that through this experience, the both of you will be bound together even stronger.
As Emma says it to Will in season four of Glee,
“I would rather be here, far from you, but feeling really close, rather than close to you but feeling really far away.” – Emma, Glee Season 4

3. Set some ground rules to manage your expectations.

Both of you need to be clear with what you expect of each other during this long distance relationship. Set some ground rules so that none of you will do things that will take the other party by surprise. For instance, are you two exclusive? Is it alright for the other person to go on dates? What is your commitment level? It’s better to be open with each other about all these things.

4. Try to communicate regularly, and creatively.

Greet each other “good morning” and “good night” every day — this is a must. On top of that, try to update your partner on your life and its happenings, however mundane some of the things may seem. To up the game, send each other pictures, audio clips and short videos from time to time. By putting in this kind of effort, you make the other person feel loved and attended to.

5. Talk dirty with each other.

Sexual tension is undoubtedly one of the most important things between couples. Sexual desire is like a glue that keeps both parties from drifting apart. Not only is sex a biological need, it is an emotional one as well. Keep the flames burning by sending each other teasing texts filled with sexual innuendos and provocative descriptions. Sexy puns work pretty well too.

6. Avoid “dangerous” situations.

If you already know that going to the club or going drinking with your group of friends late at night will displease your partner, then you should either 1. Not do it or 2. Tell your partner beforehand so as to reassure him/her. Don’t be careless about this sort of matter because your partner is only going to be extra worried or extra suspicious, and of course, very upset, because you are putting him/her in a position where he/she feels powerless or lacking in control.
Also, It could be easy for you to fall into the trap which you, unconsciously or not, set up for yourself by “hanging out” with your office eye-candy after work, or going out with a girl or guy from your past who has been flirting with you. You need to recognize the dangers before entering into the situation. Don’t just listen to your heart. Listen to your mind too.

7. Do things together.

Play an online game together. Watch a documentary on YouTube or Vimeo at the same time. Sing to each other on Skype while one of you plays the guitar. “Take a walk together” outside while video-calling each other. Go online-shopping together — and buy each other gifts (See #13). You really have to be creative and spontaneous about it.

8. Do similar things.

Recommend books, TV shows, movies, music, news and etc. to each other. When you read, watch and listen to the same things, you get to have more topics in common to talk about. This is a good to create some shared experiences even though you are living apart.

9. Make visits to each other.

Visits are the highlight of every long distance relationship. After all the waiting and yearning and abstinence, you finally get to meet each other to fulfill all the little things like kissing, holding hands, etc. which are all common to other couples but so very special and extra intimate for people in long distance relationships. It will be like fireworks, glitter bombs, confetti, rainbows and butterflies everywhere.

10. Have a goal in mind.

“What do we want to achieve at the end of the day?” “How long are we going to be apart?” “What about the future?” These are the questions you two need to ask yourselves. The truth is, no couple can be in a long distance relationship for forever. Eventually we all need to settle down.
So make a plan with each other. Do up a timeline, marking down the estimated times apart and times together, and draw an end goal. It is important that you two are on the same page and have the same goals. So that even if you are not living in the same space and the same timezone, both of you are still working together in the same direction towards a future that includes one another.

11. Enjoy your alone time and your time with your friends and family.

You are alone but you are not lonely, unless you choose to feel like it. You don’t have to let your world revolve around your partner — you still have you, your friends and your family. Take this time apart to do more with your friends and family. Go to the gym more often. Get a new hobby. Binge-watch shows. There are plenty of things for you to do that doesn’t involve your partner.

12. Stay honest with each other.

Talk about your feelings of fear, insecurity, jealousy, apathy, whatsoever. If you try to hide anything from your partner, that secret will sooner or later swallow you up from inside out. Don’t try to deal with things all by yourself. Be open and honest with each other. Let your partner help you and give you the support you need. it’s better to look at the problem during its initial stage than to only disclose it when it’s all too late.

13. Know each other’s schedules.

It’s helpful to know when the other person is busy and when he/she is free, so that you can drop a text or make a call at the right time. You wouldn’t want to disturb your partner when he/she is in the middle of class or halfway through a business meeting. Know the small and big events that are taking place or will take place in each other’s life e.g. college mid-terms and exams, important business trips and meetings, job interviews and etc. This is especially essential when the both of you are living in different time zones.

14. Keep track of each other’s social media activities.

Like each other’s photos on Facebook and Instagram. Tweet each other. Tag each other. Share things on each other’s walls. Show that you care. Be cool about stalking each other.

There is power in a memento. Be it a small pendent, a ring, a keychain, a collection of songs and videos, or a bottle of fragrance. We often attach meanings to the little things and items found in our everyday life, whether knowingly or not. This is what we all do — we try to store memories in physical things, in the hope that when our mind fails us, we can look or hold on to something that will help us remember. This is why something so simple can mean so much to a person, when others may see little or no value in it.

16. Get a good messaging app.

This is extremely important because texting is the most frequent and common way of communication the two of you have. You need a good messaging app on your phones that allow interactions beyond just words and emoticons.
Personally, I use this messaging app called LINE. I find it highly effective because it has a huge reserve of playful and very funny “stickers” that are free for its users to use. You can also go to the app’s “Sticker Shop” to download (or gift!) extra stickers of different themes (e.g. Hello Kitty, Pokemon, Snoopy, MARVEL and etc.) at a low price. From time to time, the app also gives out free sticker sets for different promotions. This messaging app is cute and easy to learn to use.

17. Snail-mail it!

Mail each other postcards and hand-written love letters. Send each other gifts across the globe from time to time. Flower deliveries on birthdays, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day. Shop online and surprise each other with cool T-shirts, sexy underwear and such.

18. Stay positive.

You need to be constantly injecting positive energy into the long distance relationship to keep it alive. Yes, the waiting can be painful and you can sometimes feel lonely but you need to remind yourself that the fruits at the end will be sweet as heaven. One good trick to staying positive is to be grateful all the time. Be thankful that you have someone to love — someone who also loves you back. Be thankful for the little things, like the hand-made letter that arrived safely in your mailbox the other day. Be thankful for each other’s health and safety.

19. Keep each other updated on each other’s friends and family.

Because gossips and scandals are always the best things to go on and on about.

20. Video-call whenever possible.

Because looking into each other’s eyes and hearing each other’s voices can make everything feel alright again.

21. Give each other pet names.

Because it’s cute. It keeps the lovey-dovey going.

Presidency Distant itself from Benue Impeachment

Ortom: Buhari speaks on ‘involvement’ in Benue Assembly’s impeachment notice

President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken on the impeachment notice served on Benue Governor Samuel Ortom by eight members of the State House of Assembly.
Buhari’s reaction was contained in a statement Tuesday morning by his spokesman, Femi Adesina.
It read: “Even while attending the ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit in Togo, strident attempts were being made to drag President Muhammadu Buhari into the unfolding drama between the executive and the legislature in Benue State.
“Statements have been issued by different interest groups, insinuating that the President may have a hand in the development in Benue. This is paranoia at its worst, coming from people who have wittingly positioned themselves against the clean-up of the country, and the way we do things. They prefer business as usual.
“President Buhari will never be part of any unconstitutional act, and any attempt to link him with the inglorious past, when minority number of lawmakers impeached governors, will not stick. It will simply be like water off the duck’s back.
“Those with open minds know this, but those who cavil would rather source everything untoward to the President. It is murky ground in which they are now marooned, as fallout of their resistance to change in the country.
“When it suits them, they preach separation of powers and true federalism, and in another breath, they call on the President to interfere brazenly in affairs at state level.
“President Buhari will always stand by all that is noble and fair, and will reject attempts to drag him into infamy. People who stoke fires by deliberate acts of omission or commission, and then summon the President to come and put it out will find that this President will be guided by the Constitution at all times, no matter the attempt to entangle him in unwarranted controversies.”

A contempt proceedings before a Benue State High Court has been served on former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, former Deputy Speaker, James Okefe and former Majority Leader, Benjamin Adanyi.
The court had earlier restraining the affected lawmakers from parading themselves in the capacities they previously operated.
The trio are to appear in court to explain why an order for their committal to prison should not be made against them for disobeying the injunction earlier issued by the court presided over by the state Chief Judge, Justice Adam Onum.

How to Know If a Girl Loves You

How to Know If a Girl Loves You

How to know if a girl loves you? It’s actually right easy. You just have to know what the signs are. Women who are in love behave in a certain way. Once you know the right things to look for, you’ll be amazed that you never noticed them before. In fact, you might look back and slap yourself on the forehead when you realize how many girls were in love with you before. Read on for the definitive guide on how to know if a girl loves you.

Her Friends Know All About You
When a girl loves you, her friends know all about you. In fact, she probably goes on and on about you more than they even want to hear about. Still, they’re going to be happy for her that she’s in love. They’re also going to know all kinds of details about you, both things that are going on between you and the girl who is in love with you, as well as other personal details that no second-degree acquaintance would ever know. Examples include your favorite foods, stories about things that happened to you at work and basically anything else that a woman who is in love with you would notice and think is important, even if no one else did.
She Chases After You
The Art of Charm is all about teaching you how to get girls to chase after you. One way to get a girl to chase after you? Get her to fall in love. When a woman falls in love with a man, few things are going to keep her from getting what she wants. Women are very purpose-driven and resilient in this regard. If she’s making it known that you’re the man that she wants, both in word and in deed, it’s a pretty clear method of how to know if a girl loves you. Women are generally not so forward in chasing after men that they aren’t in love with.
She Wants More of Your Time
The Saturday night date isn’t enough anymore. She wants more and more of your time. Maybe she wants to come by after work to make you dinner. Maybe she wants to meet for coffee during your lunch break. The specifics don’t really matter. The point is this: If the girl is always looking for more and more of your time, this can be a sign that she’s in love with you or on her way there. After all, if she were only casually interested, she wouldn’t feel the need to go for more and more of your time.
She Does Lots of Little Things For You
Remember: People, women or otherwise, generally don’t go out of their way to do tons of small favors for just anyone. If your girl is doing a lot of little things for you, this is a sign that you’re always on her mind, which in itself can be a sign that she’s fall in love with you. Don’t discount the size of the favor, gift or surprise. Remember what your mother said: It’s the thought that counts. If she’s putting that much thought into your happiness, this can mean that she’s in love with you.
She Tells You
This one seems like a “duh” but some guys can be pretty thick. If a girl tells you that she loves you, she’s not doing it to hear herself talk. She’s doing it because she loves you. Believe her.

12 signs of True love

ðŸ’•💕💕 12 Signs of true Love

True love isn’t felt in a heartbeat or in a second glance.
True love takes time to take shape.
And contrary to popular belief, love at first sight isn’t really love at all.
In fact, love at first sight is nothing but an infatuation.
It’s a strong surge of romantic and sexual emotions that overwhelm you.
Before you wonder what true love is all about and what the signs of true love really are, you need to understand that it’s very important to take things slow in a relationship if you want to ensure its success.

[Read: 10 reasons why saying ‘I love you’ too soon sucks]

When you first start dating someone or fall for someone at first sight, what you experience isn’t love.
As much as you feel like you’re head over heels in love, you really aren’t.
You’re just experiencing the first stage of love, a small part in the stages of love known as the infatuation stage.

[Read: The 9 stages of love all couples go through]

What is true love then?
True love, ironically, can’t be defined.
It’s the kind of love many of us chase after, but few truly find or realize it until it’s too late. So what is true love really?
True love is the kind of love and affection you have for someone that isn’t bound by the laws of human behavior. Human behavior is simple to understand. When someone hurts you, you get angry with them. When someone gets lucky or gets a better job, you get jealous of them. And when someone shatters your ego or humiliates you, you want your revenge. This is human behavior, because these traits are engrained within us.
But when you experience true love with someone, your primal instincts and behavior change only towards this person. True love transcends typical human behavior. It makes you a better human being towards a special someone. [Read: A true story of unconditional love]

When does one experience true love?
True love takes time to bloom. What you experience in the first year or so of a relationship is infatuation and sexual attraction.
As the bursts of infatuation start to fade with the first few arguments and the first few misunderstandings, that’s when love starts to enter the picture. And this is where most couples start to drift away emotionally, or even end up breaking up because of incompatibilities.
If you’re in a relationship where both of you truly understand each other and feel compatible with each other, and most importantly, love each other, chances are, you’re experiencing true love already. [Read: 50 questions to test your compatibility in the relationship]

Experiencing true love in your life
Is true love a once in a lifetime experience? Not really. You can experience them many times over, and with many people at the same time. You can experience true love with your spouse or your lover, your children and any other person you’re attached to in your life.
But true love too, can fade with time. For most of us, our first love is the first time we would have experienced the purest form of true love. We aren’t afraid to let this special someone into our heart and we aren’t afraid to experience heartbreak because we still don’t know what heartbreak feels like. We’re fearless in love and we love passionately with all our heart. [Read: How to know if you’re in love in the infatuation stage]

But when the first romance dies, the true love we had for our first partner too eventually fades, even if it takes years and several new relationships to overcome. And as we enter more relationships, most of us split into two groups. One that believes in true romantic love and the other group that convinces itself that true love doesn’t exist. The kind of relationships you’ve had in your lifetime can play a big part in your understanding of, and expectations from, true love.
And if you’re wondering whether true love and romantic love are the same, it really isn’t, even though we almost always associate true love with romantic love. True love is love in its purest form, while romantic love needs sexual attraction to stay alive. [Read: 25 rules you need to know to have a perfect relationship]

True love can’t be forced
True love has to be experienced naturally and wholeheartedly. You can’t fake true love no matter how hard you try. If a couple fails to pass the test of compatibility in their infatuation stage, it’s pretty hard for both of them to ever experience true love.
On the other hand, if both partners can understand each other and relate to each other, they’ll start to love each other’s company and start to become inseparable. And eventually, this bond will turn into a pure and selfless love that we call true love. [Read: How to stay in love forever and keep love alive in your romance]

The 12 signs of true love in a perfect romance
True love may be hard to define, but the signs to read true love can be clearly seen in every perfect loving relationship.
If you’re in a relationship and want to know if you’re experiencing the purest form of love, use these 12 signs of true love to find out for yourself.
#1 Give and take in love. You give to the relationship wholeheartedly, without any desire or expectations of getting something back in return from your partner to justify your actions.
#2 Pure happiness. Just watching this special person smile or laugh out loud fills you with intense happiness, even if you’re suffering or having a hard day.
#3 Pain and anger. You get terribly hurt when your lover upsets you, but their actions never anger you. You may get annoyed or frustrated now and then momentarily, but you just can’t stay mad at them for long because staying mad or giving them the silent treatment hurts you more. [Read: The effective way to give someone the silent treatment in a relationship]

#4 Sacrifices. You make sacrifices for their happiness or wellbeing, even if they may never realize it.
#5 The right effort. You go to great lengths and make an effort to improve the relationship, and play a conscious part in trying to please your partner and make them feel loved and special.
#6 You can’t ever hurt them. When you’re truly in love with someone, you can’t even imagine hurting them, emotionally or physically. Payback is a strong human instinct, but true love makes you completely selfless. [Read: 15 subtle and yet shocking signs of a controlling partner]

#7 You keep your promises. When you make a promise to them, you stick to your word even if this person will never find out if you broke their promise. When you experience true love, your moral conscience becomes very strong when it comes to this one special person.
#8 We. In a perfect relationship, it’s good to have your own space to grow as individuals. But at the same time, if you truly love your partner, you’d see them as a part of your life. When you think of your future, you can’t help but see them by your side. [Read: How to give space in a relationship and come closer]

#9 You share their burden. And you do that even if you don’t really have to. You can’t bear to see this special someone suffering. If they’re dealing with some issue, you’re always willing to offer them a helping hand even when you have your own difficulties to look into.
#10 Pride and jealousy. You beam with pride when they achieve something, even if it’s the same thing you failed at. You may get jealous of a friend who outdid you, but when you love someone, jealousy never enters the picture.
#11 Suffering. You’d be willing to suffer, just to see them happy.
#12 Their perspective. Everything you do, you keep your lover in mind and think from their perspective, be it about planning a surprise party or hanging out with your own friends after work. You don’t ever want to hurt your lover, so you always think from their point of view before making any decision that involves them in any way.
Are you experiencing true love?
If you’re in a relationship and aren’t experiencing these true love signs, don’t fret. Perhaps, your relationship hasn’t reached the state of emotional maturity that surpasses physical attraction or the stage of infatuation.
Take your time and test the waters. You can’t fall in love with someone by forcing yourself into the relationship. If it’s not working out, try to understand each other better. And if nothing you do can bring happiness back into love, perhaps both of you would be better off dating other people. [Read: 25 things to talk about to create a truly happy relationship]

But at the same time, if both of you are already happy in the relationship, don’t try to change anything about it. Sometimes, selfless and unconditional love takes time to materialize. Remember, you can’t push yourself into the next stage in love unless both of you are ready for it.
As long as your lover and you are happy and understand each other, you’re already experiencing the perfect kind of love!
[Read: 10 types of love you’ll experience in your lifetime]

Use these 12 signs of true love to understand what true selfless love really means. And even if you’re not there yet, don’t worry about it. It’s only a matter of time before a happy romance goes the true love way!

Saraki, Dogara decry ‘desecration of legislative sanctity’ in Benue

Saraki, Dogara decry ‘desecration of legislative sanctity’ in Benue

The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara have described as “a desecration of the legislative sanctity”, the on-going situation in Benue State in which eight out of the 30 members of the State House of Assembly, with the support of the police, have commenced impeachment process against Governor Samuel Ortom while 22 other members are kept away from the Assembly complex.
In a statement jointly signed by their media aides, Saraki and Dogara also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the police to order and stop being used to achieve “selfish political objectives.”
The National Assembly presiding officers said, “We have monitored closely the development in Benue State in which the impeached Speaker, Terkimbir Ikyange led seven other members to serve impeachment notice on Gov. Samuel Ortom while the 22 other members who constitute more than two-third majority have been prevented from having access to the chamber.
“We believe this is illegality and does not conform to parliamentary procedure on impeachment.
“We also note with surprise the role of the Police in this undemocratic events in which the minority is seeking to impeach a Governor against the position of the majority. We believe it is the sacred institution of the legislature that is being desecrated and rubbished in all these negative developments.”
Saraki and Dogara said also noted that the crisis in Benue State House of Assembly has grave implication for the nation’s democracy and represents a throw-back to the period of dictatorship in Nigeria, showing how the Nigeria Police are being misused to achieve political end.
The statement noted with dismay, a recent statement in which the Presidency derisively referred to an era in the past where a minority number of legislators was used to impeach Governors who were unfriendly with the Federal Government.
“What we are seeing in Benue now is a return to that inglorious era,” the statement said.
It added that the “unlawful and unconstitutional move to impeach Governor Samuel Ortom by a minority” should be condemned by all lovers of democracy, at home and abroad.
Saraki and Dogara called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the police to order and prevent a break-down of law and order.
They also called on friends of Nigeria in the international community to lend their voice against the perpetration of illegalities and actions that can subvert the country’s democracy.
They equally noted that there is already a tense atmosphere in Benue State following the recent killings, and therefore condemned any action or move likely to exacerbate the security situation in the North Central State.
“As leaders of the Federal legislature, we are ready to work with our colleagues in both chambers of the National Assembly to prevent any attempt to destroy any state legislature or use it to derail democracy,” Saraki and Dogara submitted.

Manchester City’s new signing, Riyad Mahrez has left the club’s pre-season tour of the US to return to Manchester.

Mahrez was forced off midway during the first half of City’s 3-2 win over Bayern Munich in their third pre-season encounter played on Sunday.

Police Shut down Benue state House of Assembly as Youth prevent Impeachment of Gov. Ortom

Police officers have again stormed the Benue State House of Assembly blocking roads leading to the complex.
The heavily armed officers are seen at the entrance of the House of Assembly, while others blocked the road from the popular Benue Hotel gate.
Some lawmakers were denied entry into the legislative chamber for plenary while six others were allowed entry.
The lawmakers denied entry are the 22 lawmakers who impeached the former Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange.
The officers also dispersed protesting youths with teargas.
The protesting youths are aggrieved over an alleged plot by some lawmakers to begin impeachment proceedings against Governor Samuel Ortom.
Efforts to reach the Commissioner of Police in the state, Besan Gwana, proved abortive as call put through his mobile phone were not answered.
This is the second time police officers will storm the Benue Assembly complex within two weeks.
On Friday, July 27 police officers barred 22 lawmakers who impeached Ikyange as Speaker of the Assembly from gaining access to the legislative chamber for plenary.

Governor Ortom speaks on impeachment saga, explains why notice is null, void

Impeachment notice null and void - Gov. Ortom

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to the report of the impeachment notice served him by eight meembers of the State’s House of Assembly on Monday.
Crisis in the State House of Assembly took a new turn on Monday as eight lawmakers served an impeachment notice on the governor.
The lawmakers, Adanyi Benjamin, Terhemba Chabo, Benjamin Nungwa, Bem Mngutyo, Adams Okloho, James Okefe and Nick Eworo were among members that moved for the governor’s impeachment.
The plot was coordinated by Terkimbi Ikyange who was removed as speaker of the Assembly last week.
Speaking to DAILY POST on the development through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Ortom said he was still the governor of the State, adding that the lawmakers lack the constitutional powers to remove him from office.
He said, “Ortom is still the Chief Executive of the State. You can’t just impeach a Governor in a flash. You have to go through all the legal and constitutional processes.
“They have not been able to form a quorum, so it is not possible. Only eight people served the governor the notice, even at that, 2 other members who were part of the cangaroo sitting were on the side of the governor, so how can anybody call that an impeachment notice. It’s laughable and must be ignored completely.
“And for the record, there is a court injunction restricting the impeached Speaker from parading himself as the Speaker of the House and that court injunction has not been vacated.
“He has been suspended for 6 months, he doesn’t have any constitutional right to go back to that Assembly.
“He has done nothing to vacate that injunction so whatever he did stands null and void.”

Why Buhari must immediately sack IGP Idris – Afenifere, Ohanaeze, Northern Elders, PANDEF

Why Buhari must immediately sack IGP Idris – Afenifere, Ohanaeze, Northern Elders, PANDEF- Saraki

A coalition of Nigerian Elders has called for the sack of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over the alleged invasion of the residence of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and that of his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
The elders, Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Middle Belt Forum, MBF, Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, condemned the action of the police.
Recall that the Police had last week Tuesday allegedly blocked the Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s convoy at Lake Chad junction in Abuja.
Saraki was reportedly on his way to report to the police headquarters after he was invited for questioning by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris over Offa bank robbery when the incident happened.
However, the elders have insisted that the Police boss should immediately be sacked if he did not take instruction from President Muhammadu Buhari to carry out what they termed, “this major infraction.”
The stance of the elders was contained in a statement signed by Yinka Odumakin on behalf of Afenifere, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, NEF, Prof Chigozie Ogbu, Ohanaeze, Dr. Isuwa Dogo, MBF, and Senator Bassey Henshaw, PANDEF.
The statement reads, “The President should, therefore, be held responsible for the actions of the police as he or his assignee are the only people who can authorize the IGP to carry out any directive.
“If the Inspector General of Police did not take instruction from Mr President to carry out this major infraction, he should be sacked immediately. We, therefore, reject the disingenuous attempt by the Presidency to say it is keeping its hands behind its back while the police rode roughshod over the fundamentals of our constitutional democracy.”
They noted that the action of the police under the Idris leadership was the highest level of “irresponsible high-handedness and an assault on the democratic foundations of the nation.”
“This Forum is alarmed at the degeneration in the levels of responsibility of agencies of the state vested with the duty to protect the people and democratic institutions and those leaders who should hold them responsible.
“The action of the police is condemned in its entirety by the Forum because it shows clearly an attempt to muzzle the legislative arm of government by the executive arm. It would no longer be a democracy where any of the three arms of government is emasculated by any strong-arm tactics by another arm in entirety.
“The Forum, therefore, warns the government to desist from further damaging the democratic process by these acts of illegality and impunity as we regard the affront against the legislature as an affront against the people who elected them and call on Nigerians to be vigilant,” the leaders and elders said.
The Forum also admonished leadership of the National Assembly to remain focused and steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities and defend the democratic space.
They urged all Nigerians to gird their loins as the country marched into “these challenging times” in order to prevent any attempt by any power to drag Nigeria back to the route she once travelled with attendant unpleasant consequences.
“We urge the leadership of the National Assembly to remain focused and steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities and defend the democratic space as the legislature is the only organ that makes a difference between a military rule and democratic regime.
“Finally, we call on all Nigerians to gird their loins as we enter these challenging times and prevent any attempt by any power to drag us to the route this country once travelled with attendant unpleasant consequences. It is time we all say no to this festering full-blown dictatorship threatening the democratic project in Nigeria,” the elders said.

APC crisis: Senator Ndume speaks on impeachment plot, how defection helped Party

Defection Helped APC - Sen. Ndume

A former Senate Majority Leader, Muhammed Ndume has revealed how the defection of over 13 All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, helped the rest of them come together.
Ndume noted that the defection of some of the APC senators to the PDP had consolidated the ruling party.
Senator Ndume, who represents Borno South in the Senate, told Vanguard that APC still had the majority in the senate.
He also spoke on the alleged plan to impeach the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremmadu, saying there was no such plan.
He said, “The defection of our colleagues made us to consolidate ourselves. Before we were scattered, we had some of us that are following Saraki; those that are following Saraki neck deep have been posted to PDP by Saraki.
“Now, we have senators who Saraki was thinking he had in his pocket, not knowing they were following him maybe for personal reasons or the like, but when he said we are leaving the party, they said no we are APC and we are still standing with our party.
“Now we know that we have a confirmed simple majority that we would be able to do whatever we want to do in that Senate.
“If it is going to be voting, we can write people’s name and even say 52 senators are of APC who are in support of whatever Mr President wants.
“Of course, two senators that are even in APGA are in support, working with the APC and, of course, two seats that are vacant and elections are to be done on August 11, we are very confident that the seats belong to APC by God’s grace.
“So, we would have a comfortable majority.”
Speaking on the alleged failed attempt to remove Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Ndume said “there was nothing like planned coup to remove anybody.”

Buhari and Tinubu were the leaders of CPC and ACN, two of the five legacy parties that formed the APC in 2014.
“Buhari was the one against the alliance with Tinubu and I don’t want to say anything. Let Buhari deny what I have said.
“I was for it and I organised it and wrote a memo that even produced a candidate for the vice presidency, this same Yemi Osinbajo,” Galadima said.
The R-APC chairman also revealed he was planning to write an open letter to Buhari very soon.
“If he was raising cattle in Daura, I wouldn’t bother about him. I’m criticising him because he’s the President of Nigeria and he’s not doing very well,” he added.

Gov. Ortom - Why I dumped APC for PDP

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has outlined reasons he left the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
This is as reactions continue to trail his last week’s exit from the APC and declaration of membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Governor on Sunday, speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and ICT, Tahav Agerzua, gave reasons he defected from the party.

Agerzua addressed reporters in Makurdi, the State capital, explaining that the lack of internal democracy within the ranks of the party in the state contributed in no small measure for his decision.
He said, “You have a situation where a powerful individual high jacked every structure of the party and excluded all other stakeholders including senators and members of the National Assembly and key party members.
“Besides, major stakeholders in the state advised Governor Ortom to leave the APC because of the federal government’s alleged complicity in the ongoing killings in the country including Benue state.

“Besides, major stakeholders in the state advised Governor Ortom to leave the APC because of the federal government’s alleged complicity in the ongoing killings in the country including Benue state.
“They advised him to change platform so that they can fight against the return of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
“The stakeholder are scared that if Buhari comes back in 2019 the killings would be worst because it is clear that he supports the conquest and occupation agenda of his ethnic group, the Fulanis.
“The people claimed that the APC at the centre is an accomplice because you see key Ministers of the administration, key Ministers of the National security council, like that of Internal Affairs, Defence, IG of Police and the Chief of Army Staff coming out to condemn the anti open grazing law of the state which is a major landmark law because it opposes the Fulani agenda.
“They are using grazing to conquer and occupy. But now both the government of the APC and the party machinery are now trying to change the narrative of the Benue killings to blame the victims instead of the aggressors.
“That is why they are now claiming that he is sponsoring the killings.
“Is it Ortom that is killing in Plateau, Adamawa, Zamfara and other states of the federation? So are you saying that the governors of these states are killing their people? Okay since you know the killers, whoever they may be why not arrest the people involved?
“Why the Benue stakeholder believe that the federal government is complicit in the killings is their failure to arrest the leadership Miyetti Alla Kautal Hore who had earlier issued threats against Benue and eventually executed that same threat even after the matter was reported severally?
“The other reason is Senator George Akume’s inordinate ambition to become senate president that has made him to sacrifice anyone or anybody or even his people to achieve his ambition.
“We gathered that He has been promised the senate presidency and he has sacrificed Ortom and his people. You know he contested the position in 2007 and 2011. His whole life is to become the senate president at the expense of anything and he is satisfied.
“It is that ambition that made him to sacrifices Ortom to the federal powers.
“Another issue is Senator Akume’s antecedents. It was not possible for Ortom to contain Akume. Nobody has been able to keep a lasting relationship with Akume in Benue state, nobody has the capacity. It is impossible to cohabit with Akume politically for long. It is impossible. Ask the likes of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, Terhemba Shija his former campaign Director General.
“Is it Senator Gemade, is it Senator David Mark, is it Gabriel Suswam? Name them.
“Akume talked about Ortom’s non performance, it cannot be that issue because all the people listed here did not have performance issues yet Akume fell out with them. If you talk of non perforce it means that Akume has indicted himself because he brought Ortom and then nominated key officials in his cabinet and he asked non of them to resign on account of non performance.
“Everyone know that Ortom became Governor in time of war, what we are going through is a warlike situation where 18 out of 23 local government areas were under siege. It means Ortom is Governor in time war which is a different ball game apart from the economic challenge.
“Apart from that he has recorded major milestones in health, education, security and infrastructure. Lots of projects are being executed in the rural areas. Bridges, roads and electricity. There are about 70 projects ongoing presently across the state.
“Moreover there is a grand conspiracy against Governor Ortom from APC forces from within and outside the state which was uncovered. This is not only against his reelection but against the wishes of the people of the state.
“Another issue is the APC administration’s failure to deliver on its campaign promises of security, economic rejuvenation and fight against corruption.
“They have clearly failed. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, seems to be going after perceived enemies of the government. There no visible federal government presence in Benue, all federal roads are in terrible state. So from all these Ortom saw that his interest and those of the people cannot be protected in the APC so he had to leave.”

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State on Sunday called for the immediate dissolution of the state’s Party Executive Committee led by Balogun Fulani and the conduct of fresh congresses.
The stakeholders called for the dissolution after a meeting held in Oro, the country home of the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.
Mohammed, who read out the resolutions, said the stakeholders agreed that the fresh congresses to be conducted at all levels would include all Kwara APC members and those who are just coming into the party.
The minister said that the stakeholders also resolved “that all those who got appointments by deceit, hiding under the facade of being party men and women, should immediately resign such appointments or be fired.”
He said the resignations would enable the genuine members of APC to reap where they had sown.
“We also resolved that the recent gale of defections has now put the APC in a position of true majority in the National Assembly, as those who remain are the ones who are truly committed to the ideals of our great party.
“That all members and supporters of our great party restate their unflinching support for President Muhammadu Buhari and assure him of a harvest of votes from Kwara State in the 2019 general elections.
“That all members should remain calm, because there is no cause for alarm,” he said.
Mohammed said he was in the state with the permission of the party’s national executive to hold the consultative meetings with the major stakeholders of APC in Kwara.
He expressed appreciation “to hundreds of supporters who, since the announcement of defections, have encouraged us via text messages, telephone calls and personal visits that there is no cause for alarm in Kwara.”
The minister stressed that the defection notwithstanding, Kwara is solidly for APC and President Muhammadu Buhari.
At the briefing were factional chairman of APC, Moshood Bolarinwa; the Secretary, Ganiyu Saka; and other key members of the party.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that before the consultative meetings, the minister had addressed members and supporters of the party who came to receive him at the playground of Muslim Community Primary School, Oro.

Amaechi speaks on Buhari losing 2019 election

Amaechi speaks on Buhari losing 2019 election

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said the recent defection of some Senators from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would not deter President Muhammadu Buhari from winning the 2019 presidential election.
Amaechi, while fielding questions from journalists after inspecting the Itakpe-Warri rail line on Friday, said the chances of Buhari in the election were bright.
He also boasted that the President will win the election even on a sick bed, using Bauchi State to drive home his argument, where according to him, Buhari had never lost election before.
Amaechi told reporters, “Do you honestly believe that the president will lose an election in this country? Well, nobody is God, but that is one of his comfort zones. The next person that left, left from Bauchi, if you bring the President on a sick bed in Bauchi, he will win. He has never lost an election in Bauchi.
“One thing about me in the political history of Nigeria, nobody has been in doubt on where I stand, one quality I have and Nigerians believe is that I’m honest. I never hid my feelings.
“Nigerians will certainly reject a second looting, Nigeria cannot survive another looting, call me all the rich men in Nigeria, everybody depends on government.
“Sixty per cent of Nigerian rich men depend on government. Only three years that they removed the breast milk, everybody is complaining.”
